Hey guys, welcome to Languages With A Twist.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with the idea of the perfect language course. A course that gets someone to conversational level as fast as can be done. Like if God himself could tell you, "this is what do, learn this then learn this, in this order", what would that course look like?
The problem was I couldn’t fucking find this course, and trust I tried. 10 years ago when I wanted to learn German I must have gone on every German YouTube channel that exists, tried every app, read every blog, and there was always something missing.
The apps just simply don’t work for real life conversation, the “90 days to fluency” courses are just obvious scams, and all the YouTube channels were missing something, either there was no cohesive long term plan, or the courses just were majoring in the minors and teaching a bunch of stiuff I don’t give a fuck about, like how to give directions and talk about colours and vegetables, or they were good but so damn boring I would rather have killed myself then watch a whole course. Also, most of these videos looked like they were filmed on a potato and as a tech nerd I need my tasty 4K.

Also, most of these videos looked like they were filmed on a potato and as a tech nerd I need my tasty 4K.
So I decided to do something about it, and went on a decade long quest to create the perfect language learning course.
About 3 years into this mission, I had taught hundreds of students as a young English teacher in Prague, and gotten the course to a level that I felt was enough to try opening a language school - with this method as the main selling point.
Fast forward 8 years and the school (called Speak Like Me if you want to Google it) went on to become the best-rated corporate language school in the Czech Republic, with thousands of students having learnt English to conversational fluency with us, using the method.

During those years I kept working on the method and tried flipping it around to teach myself Czech - just to check it also works in languages other than English. I'm happy to say with a few tweaks it worked and I now speak Czech to a good enough, useable conversational level.
So that brings us to now. After 11 years working on this method I feel pretty good about how it works, so my plan for Language With A Twist is to teach myself French, Spanish and German simultaneously, and document the whole journey here on the channel. I hate scams so this will be 100% genuine, mistakes and all. There will be no secret behind the scenes studying all night. Everything I learn will be here on the channel, so that any of you can just follow along with me, copy and paste exactly what I’m doing, and get the same results.
We’ll be putting the whole start-to-finish course up on YouTube for free, and for each language we also have a really cool podcast, which is where I try and put everything I’m learning here on YouTube into practice in fun little conversations with my native speaker partner of each language.
Speaking of that, in order to make sure that everything I tell you is correct, I’ll be getting every video checked before it’s released by that native speaker, to ensure there’s no fake news, and to help out with pronunciation so you guys can here what everything is supposed to sound like.
I’ll also be putting up everything I’ve learnt about English over the last ten years including my start-to-finish English course, and also the course I’ve used to get myself to conversational Czech.
So whatever language you’re wanting to learn, I hope you’ll enjoy joining me on the journey, and having a couple of G&T’s with me.
